Holiday in Goa where fun never ends

Palolem Beach on your Holiday in Goa.

Palolem beach is 37 kms away from Margao. Just west of Chaudi, it is one of the most enchanting and gorgeous beaches in Goa. It is relatively deserted, with the backdrop of Western Ghats, situated in Southern Taluka of Canacona. The silvery sand of the beach and a back drop of clean blue sky make this beach a favorite spot for the tourists.

The beach is largely unspoiled and is inhabited by both local fishermen and by foreign tourists who live in shacks along the shore or in the main village itself. It is about one mile (2 km) long and is crescent-shaped - one can view the whole beach from either end. Both ends of the beach consist of rocks plunging into the sea. The depth of the sea increases gradually, it being shallowest at the northern ends of the beach, making it safe for average swimmers, and the currents are not fast.

At the top of the island adjoining Palolem beach there is a stone sculpture created by an American Conceptual and Land art artist Jacek Tylicki called "Give if you can - Take if you have to" also called "the Money stone".

The stretch of white sand dominates the southern coast of Goa. Until a few years back, it was among the virgin beaches of Goa. However, it couldn't escape from the eyes of the tourists. Although a few developments have taken place, the beach still has a soothing aura to it. A large area of the beach now accommodates a lot of small shacks that taper off as you move towards the south.

At the northern end of the beach is a fresh water stream. Across this stream is a tiny, undeveloped island that can be accessed by just swimming across during low tide. However, it is not very safe to do so during high tide. The other attractions on this beach are the Dolphin cruises and the fishing trips. These are offered at quite a reasonable rate.

Palolem Beach is also known as "Paradise Beach". This beach in south Goa is about a mile long and it provides seclusion and idyllic scenery. It is one of the most enchanted beaches in Goa but not that crowded and messy. Since a couple of years, increasing numbers of tourists have started to come to this beach, and there a good growth of cafes, stalls, hotels, etc near the beach. One can find tents, guesthouses, simple rooms in the local family homes, etc at this beach on your Holiday in Goa.
